      Conceptual Painting Class w/Bernardo Cantu

      Description: This class will help the student further develop their painting methods and techniques. However an emphasis on individual style, individual interpretation, expression and concepts on canvas (and other surfaces) will be explored. Projects in this class will help students develop a deeper appreciation of the conceptual history of painting. This class will help build experimental skills and challenge one to think outside of their usual thinking of what a painting can be.

      Feb. 27, March 6, 13, 20, 27, April 3 and 10
      Time: 4:30pm - 7:30pm
      Member: $150.00
      Non-Member: $165.00

      Supply List: In this class you have freedom to work on a variety of substrates/surfaces.
      You can work on paper, canvas, panel board etc. etc.
      Size: any size, preferably around 8”x10” or larger)
      (If you have some other substrate in mind please let me know before class starts to confirm it will be okay. )

      You have freedom to work with a variety of painting or mark making tools.

      Traditional: Oils, acrylics, water colors and all their accompanying materials.
      various size brushes, paint trays or painting palettes
      paint thinners, linseed oil or walnut oils for oil paint acrylic mediums such as matt or gloss medium/gels, paint cups, water cups, towels etc. etc
      Non Traditional: You are allowed to use collage material such as pictures from various sources as well if you decide to do more of mixed media.
      First class day please bring something to work with (supplies, substrate and tools).
      First class day will partially be an introduction of the possibilities of what one can do in this class.
      You will find out throughout the class as it progresses what materials you want to use and experiment with.
